ABOUT

hello! i’m jules scheele, a freelance illustrator, comics artist and graphic facilitator based in Glasgow. I specialise in graphic storytelling and illustrations that help translate and bring a human touch to difficult concepts, and my art focuses strongly on mental health, queerness, acitivism and community.

over the last few years I have illustrated a couple of icon books’ graphic history series, most notably Queer: A Graphic History, written by Dr. Meg-John Barker. The book is available in all good book stores and also through Amazon. Gender: A Graphic guide will be out in late 2019.

selected Past clients include The Guardian, the bbc, The Edinburgh International Television Festival, transport scotland, the scottish books trust, the scottish political archive, Kerrang!, VICE, image comics, dark horse books, routledge, The School Of Life, Open University, the NHS, Graze, and Edelman Uk. my work has been featured in The Guardian, Dazed Digital and Digital Arts.

from 2014-2018 i ran One Beat Zines (with sarah broadhurst), a feminist zine collective and distro. currently I co-run Ghost comics festival (with joão sobral and jessica taylor), a yearly festival that showcases the work of alternative comics artists based in glasgow.

i currently run a patreon where you can support my art and see regular original content from only $2/month.
